Food Matters Institute Coach Feature: Nancy Timmins

By Food Matters Institute

What happens when a dedicated health advocate, already well-versed in mind, body, and spirit, seeks the missing piece of the wellness puzzle? For Nancy Timmins, the answer was found within the information inside of the Food Matters Certification Course. Inspired by Food Matters’ Transcendence films, Nancy embarked on a journey that would not only enrich her personal understanding of nutrition, but also become the key to unlocking deeper healing and guidance for her clients. For this article, we connected with Nancy to share her inspiring story with our community.

Q: What was your drive for wanting to begin this course?

A: It was your Transcendence films. That got me reconnected with you. I knew about Food Matters and all your films when they were released originally. I have been on this health journey for a while now, since the pandemic, so it was a blessing in a way. It helped me to slow down my life and really get to know what I'm interested in, what I enjoy doing, and what I can do to contribute. Vishen is part of your Transcendence series, as well. Anyway, so I joined Mindvalley, did about 25 programs/quests in a year, finished two certifications, and started coaching. When I stumbled upon your program, it was the finishing touch I guess you could say. I had learned about the mind-body connection, spiritual connection, and fitness for longevity, but the food part is just because I love food. I wanted to learn how to detox and learn how to use food, herbs, and spices for healing. I knew a little bit about these things, but felt that I could learn more and help even more people.

The course has a great panel of faculty teaching members. They're really world experts, so it was a no-brainer.

Q: How are you using this internationally accredited certification in your practice now?

A: Right from the get go, all the lessons that I was listening to, I was already starting to implement with the clients that I had. Even for myself. For example, in one of the talks with David Avocado Wolfe, he talked about charcoal, and I started using that myself every day. And I haven't stopped, and I recommended it to some of my clients who are looking to do some kind of detox without doing things like colonics or enemas. I would say with everything that I teach my clients, I have to practice them first.

Q: What were some of your biggest takeaways from the course?

A: It's very difficult for me to narrow it down to one thing. I love the course a lot. And I would say I really try to implement what I was learning in my life and in my clients’ lives. It's a gradual buildup, and you know, we're all so unique biochemically that I am even more open and non-judgemental towards my clients. They were coming to me because everyone's got a different story - how they’ve been raised… their eating habits, and no one's at fault really. And I am able to be more open and to have the tools from the course that I can fall back on - like the workbook! I love it and refer to it all the time. It was really about having more tools to help more people and to really understand that whatever we're putting into our mouth is affecting our microbiome.

Q: What would you say for people that are on the fence about studying with us? What would be your advice to them?

A: I would say the biggest investment you can make in yourself is actually your health. Without our health, we can't do anything else. It doesn't matter how much money you have, how much power you have, or how beautiful you are at this moment. If you don't take care of yourself, that's not going to last. My practice is longevity based, so I'm also thinking about the long term.

Q: What is it that you're focusing on now? How can people find out about your work?

A: My website is followthejaderabbit.com. The Jade Rabbit is a longevity symbol in Chinese culture. On my website, you'll be able to find out the story about the Jade Rabbit, why it's the longevity symbol, and why it has inspired me.
